Pat Nand’s Journey to Building Motion Mechanical

From the age of 14, Pat Nand spent his summers in his father’s motor shop, repairing blower and fan motors for HVAC technicians. Those early days—inspecting parts and fixing broken motors—sparked a fascination with heating and cooling systems. He spent every spare moment talking shop with the pros who came through the door, soaking up their expertise and dreaming of one day following in their footsteps.

In high school, Pat turned that dream into action by joining a co-op HVAC program, earning hands-on experience alongside his studies. After graduation, he completed a rigorous union apprenticeship and landed a position at a large HVAC contractor. But the realities of corporate life soon soured his enthusiasm: rushed jobs, impersonal management, and a relentless drive for volume over quality left him—and countless homeowners—frustrated. When Pat was laid off after five years, without warning or explanation, he knew something had to change.

That turning point became Pat’s catalyst. Determined to raise the bar, he founded Motion Mechanical on the foundation of disciplined, step-by-step work methods modeled on his best training experiences. He stays hands-on with every project, personally ensuring clear communication, meticulous diagnostics, and genuine respect for each customer’s home.

Today, Motion Mechanical specializes in servicing, installing, and maintaining sophisticated HVAC systems—those that demand advanced skills and close attention to detail.
